Sensor placement for maximum fault isolability
نویسندگان
چکیده
An algorithm is developed for computing which sensors to add to obtain maximum fault detectability and fault isolability. The method is based on only the structural information in a model which means that large and non-linear differentialalgebraic models can be handled in an efficient manner. The approach is exemplified on a model of an industrial valve where the benefits and properties of the method is clearly shown.

Sensor Placement for Fault Detection and Isolation Based on Structural Models
This paper presents a new algorithm for solving the sensor placement problem in order to achieve the required fault detectability and isolability. The method is based on structural models, which means that non-linear differential systems can be efficiently handled. The developed algorithm does not need to compute any residual since it is based on structural model properties. Thus, the residual ...
متن کاملFault Isolability Prediction of Diagnostic Models
Fault isolability plays a significant role and could be critical with respect to many aspects such as safety and maintenance for a process to be diagnosed. In the development of processes including diagnosis, design decisions are taken, e.g. sensor configuration selection, which affects the fault isolability possibilities. In this paper an algorithm for predicting fault isolability possibilitie...
متن کاملSimulation-based Vibration Sensor Placement for Centrifugal Pump Impeller Fault Detection
In this paper, a simulation-based method is proposed for optimal placement of vibration sensors for the purpose of fault detection in a centrifugal pump. The centrifugal pump is modeled to investigate the effect of vane tip fault on fluid flow patterns numerically. Pressure pulsations are investigated at different locations at the inner surface of the pump before and after the presence of the f...
متن کاملSensor placement for fault isolation in linear differential-algebraic systems
An algorithm is proposed for computing which sensor additions that make a diagnosis requirement specification regarding fault detectability and isolability attainable for a given linear differential-algebraic model. Restrictions on possible sensor locations can be given and if the diagnosis specification is not attainable with any available sensor addition, the algorithm provides the solutions ...
متن کاملDiagnosability analysis and FDI system design for uncertain systems
Our society depends on advanced and complex technical systems and machines, for example, cars for transportation, industrial robots in production lines, satellites for communication, and power plants for energy production. Consequences of a fault in such a system can be severe and result in human casualties, environmentally harmful emissions, high repair costs, or economical losses caused by un...
